Great Golfing Communities in Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville, Kentucky offers several great golf course communities and many of these neighborhoods have homes surrounding the greens.  How would you like to look out your window at beautiful rolling hills and lakes, and step right onto the course when you walk outdoors?

The Lake Forest Golf Course at the country club facility features 18-holes and 7,118 yards of play off the longest tees for a total par of 72.  This course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened to the public in 1992.  Several Lake Forest Homes have views of the course, with prices for these homes ranging from $275,000 to over $2,000,000 for the most luxurious of homes.  The community of Lake Forest has plenty of activities for the non-golfers in the family including swimming, tennis, walking trails, and many neighborhood-wide social gatherings.

The Midland Trail Golf Course was a vision of several local golfers who sought to create an affordable and quality private golf club.  Architect Edward Lawrence Packard designed the 6,864 yard layout, and the course continues to be an affordable and quality private club today.  The neighborhood of Midland Meadows surrounds the golf course and this newer community averages home prices between $350,000 and $500,000.  The neighborhood is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, but is within minutes of shopping, schools, and businesses.

The Valhalla Golf Club is located in east Louisville and was designed by a professional golfer, Jack Nicklaus.  This private course sits on 486 acres and opened in 1986.  Valhalla hosted the PGA Championship in 1996 and in 2000, and will host it again in 2014.  The Senior PGA Championship was held at the course in 2011.  Valhalla is close to the Middletown Neighborhood in Louisville, where home prices range on average from $100,000 to over $350,000.  Home styles vary greatly in Middletown and there are homes for every lifestyle.

The Polo Fields Golf Course was designed by Bill Newcomb and is a beautiful course with bent grass tees, fairways and greens that stay lush all year long.  The Country Club offers several other activities besides golf, such as swimming, tennis and a beautiful clubhouse that overlooks a 14 acre lake.  Polo Fields is a beautiful community and the homes definitely reflect that fact!  Prices can range from $150,000 to $1,000,000.  Polo Fields is very close to the Lake Forest neighborhood, so you can enjoy two golf courses within close range of each other!

Louisville offers plenty of activities, especially for the avid golfer!  If you are a lover of the sport, consider living in a community where you can be surrounded by your passion.
